Tia Strickland-Hobbs
Songs of Praise
At the age of five, Tia felt God tugging at her young heart. She was raised in a Christian home with one brother and four sisters. During the early years of her life, Tia encountered many struggles. But God would not let her go. At a very young age she was molested and the tragic event became a secret that she kept hidden for many years. Even through the pain, the song in her heart remained. Tia began leading worship at the age of 14. There has never been any doubt that God has called, chosen and anointed Tia to praise Him. Music is her greatest passion.
As Tia became an adult, she met Jason—the man she fell in love with and later married. They were the perfect couple. For 18 years Jason and Tia walked together serving the Lord and very much in love. Their marriage was blessed with two beautiful sons, Jordan and Joshua.
Out of Tragedy
On August 19, 2006, Tia was awakened by a phone call that would change life as she knew it. As Jason traveled to work that morning, his vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. The collision resulted in Jason’s death. The circumstances seemed unjust. The grief was overwhelming. Life had dealt a painful blow. Tia felt as if she might drown in a sea of sorrow and unanswered questions. Yet God was Tia’s constant companion. Her cries did not go unnoticed by her loving heavenly Father.
Healing
As time passed, Tia once again began to write songs and lead in worship. Healing was a slow process. God sent comfort, and hope took the place of the overwhelming sorrow. God’s answer often comes to us when we feel alone and abandoned. By God’s grace, light will shine through the darkness. Tia was made whole again and now ministers to others out of her restoration.
